










Area of Study
Gunung Jerai, Kedah Darul Aman. The camp was conducted for 7 days from 12th February 2017 until 18th February 2017. The number of participants were 96 students and was supervised by 5 lecturers and helped by 10 technicians.
What We Did
During the 7 days camping, all students have to do some researches at 5 different places which are 4 rivers traversing and one is on the road. For the river traversing, the places are Sungai Ketapan, Sungai Tupah, Sungai Tok Pawang and Sungai Batu Pahat, while at the road, the outcrops that the students visited such as ex-quarry at Bukit Inas, Kawasan Rekreasi Air Terjun Seri Perigi, Tanjung Jaga, and Jerai Mountain. The students have been divided into 5 groups and they will go different places for each day. For example, group 1 on 13th February 2017 went to Sungai Ketapan and the other groups will go to another places.
Outcome
The short studies showed that the area around Gunung Jerai mostly covered with granite, metasedimentary rock and quartzite. In addition, there are also other rocks such as pegmatite, kaolinite and hornfels. Other than that, the geological structure that can be found at the area of study are faults, fractures, joints, vein, dyke, stringers, and ripple marks.
